THE WORLD OF CESAGA
An Ancient Story Beyond Earth
Cesaga is a fantasy universe inspired by the rich folklore, mythology, and cultural heritage of Southeast Asia.
At the heart of the story is a conflict that stretches across generations—a struggle between the forces of light and the mysterious entities known as the Dark Seeds.
Long before the events of the present story, a great war took place between these opposing forces. Although the conflict eventually came to an end, its consequences continued to shape the world long after the battle was over.
The Dark Seeds did not simply disappear.
Their presence remained connected to Earth, where they would eventually become known by another
name: THE PUAKA
The Puaka are mysterious supernatural entities whose forms and characteristics are inspired by the many ghost, spirit, and supernatural traditions found throughout Southeast Asia.
Within the world of Cesaga, however, the Puaka are more than traditional folklore creatures. They are part of a much larger mythology, with their own origins, powers, factions, and roles in the ongoing conflict.
Some appear as terrifying supernatural beings, while others possess intelligence, strength, and abilities that make them formidable opponents.
The mystery surrounding the Puaka and their connection to the ancient conflict forms an important part of the Cesaga story.
THE KSHATRIYA
To understand what is happening on Earth, we must look beyond the planet itself.
The Kshatriya are a warrior order entrusted with important missions and responsibilities.
Among them are the twins Purnama and Surya, who are sent to Earth to investigate the movements and activities of the Dark Seeds.
Their mission is not simply a battle against monsters.
They must investigate what happened in the past, understand the threat developing on Earth, and uncover the truth behind the forces they encounter.
Their journey will bring them into contact with powerful enemies, mysterious events, and secrets that have remained hidden for generations.
PURNAMA AND SURIA
Purnama and Suria are twin siblings and members of the Kshatriya.
Although they share the same mission, each possesses their own personality, abilities, and approach to the challenges they face.
Purnama is a strategic fighter who relies heavily on battle tactics and physical combat. Even when facing an opponent stronger than himself, he is capable of using strategy and experience to overcome the disadvantage.
Surya accompanies him on their journey to Earth, and together they become part of a much larger story surrounding the Dark Seeds and the mysterious events unfolding on the planet.
Their mission will ultimately become more complicated than they could have anticipated.
THE JOURNEY TO EARTH
The Kshatriyas' journey to Earth begins as an investigation into the movements of the Dark Seeds.
Their departure marks the beginning of a new chapter in the long history of the conflict.
As the Kshatriyas travel toward Earth, they do not yet know the full extent of what awaits them.
The world below contains more than the remnants of an ancient war.
It contains secrets.
It contains forgotten powers.
And it contains supernatural beings whose existence is deeply connected to the folklore and mythology of Southeast Asia.
As the investigation unfolds, the line between the ancient conflict and the present world begins to disappear.
A WORLD INSPIRED BY SOUTHEAST ASIAN FOLKLORE
One of the defining elements of Cesaga is its connection to the folklore of Southeast Asia.
The universe takes inspiration from traditional stories, supernatural beings, cultural elements, and mythology found throughout the region, while reimagining them within an original fantasy setting.
Rather than simply retelling traditional folklore, Cesaga creates its own interconnected world where these influences can exist alongside original characters, civilizations, warriors, supernatural entities, and conflicts.
This allows familiar elements of Southeast Asian folklore to be presented in a new way while remaining part of a much larger fictional universe.
THE STORY CONTINUES
The story of Cesaga is not limited to a single battle or a single generation.
The comic explores the world through its visual storytelling, while the novel expands the universe through additional perspectives and storylines.
Together, they reveal different parts of the same universe.
Beyond the comics and novels, the Cesaga universe continues to expand into other forms of storytelling and interactive media, including Cesaga Card & Board Game (CCBG), which is built upon the lore of the comic and novel universe.
There are still many stories to be uncovered.
Many characters have their own histories.
Many creatures have their own origins.
And many mysteries surrounding the ancient conflict have yet to be revealed.
